West Azerbaijan donors support Omid through Zakat al-Fitr

Zakat al-Fitr contributions to the West Azerbaijan charity supporting people with cancer, Omid, rose by 40% in the Solar Hijri year 1398 compared with the previous year.

Omid's Zakat al-Fitr committee reported that worshippers in Urmia visited seven collection booths and donated more than 2.267 billion rials through Zakat al-Fitr, compensation for missed fasts and contributions designated for descendants of the Prophet. This was the first time the charity's Zakat al-Fitr receipts exceeded 2.2 billion rials, reaffirming the trust of West Azerbaijan's residents, particularly the people of Urmia, in its treatment of patients in need.

In the previous year, generous worshippers had donated more than 1.615 billion rials of their Zakat al-Fitr to support these patients. The committee comprises Public Relations, Fundraising, Finance, General Affairs and volunteers. Its public outreach included banners identifying the collection booths and text messages inviting donors to participate.
