Omid Specialty and Subspecialty Hospital, affiliated with the Omid Charity Association, was inaugurated in 2017 (1396 in the Iranian calendar) in the presence of the then Minister of Health and Medical Education, Dr. Ghazizadeh Hashemi. This hospital was built brick by brick through the generosity of donors and equipped with the most advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities.
From its earliest days of operation until today—now nearly a decade later—Omid Hospital has continued its activities with a Grade One accreditation from the Ministry of Health and Medical Education.
Why Was Omid Hospital Established?
The diagnosis of cancer requires specialized laboratory services and advanced diagnostic equipment such as CT scanning, mammography, ultrasonography, endoscopy, colonoscopy, and bronchoscopy. In many cases, it also requires surgery, hospitalization, and post-treatment recovery care.
Before the opening of Omid Specialty and Subspecialty Hospital, cancer patients had to receive these services separately from multiple medical centers. This fragmented approach made the process of cancer diagnosis and treatment lengthy and exhausting, and in some cases caused patients to abandon their treatment altogether due to long waiting times and the difficulty of accessing scattered services.
That was why the benefactors of the Omid Charity Association joined hands to bring together all of these essential cancer diagnostic and treatment services under one roof at this hospital.
Omid Hospital: A Choice Beyond Treatment
This phrase is, in fact, the motto of Omid Specialty and Subspecialty Hospital. The hospital operates as a general hospital and, in addition to cancer patients, provides surgery and inpatient care for many other patients in the fields of cardiovascular medicine, nephrology, orthopedics, and internal medicine with the support of specialist physicians. Although 70 percent of Omid Hospital’s inpatient beds are allocated to cancer patients, the hospital’s medical services are also available to the general public.
Medical services at Omid Hospital are offered at charitable rates—higher than public-sector tariffs and lower than private-sector fees. After expenses are deducted, the proceeds are used to provide medication and treatment for underprivileged cancer patients.
That is why Omid Hospital is truly a choice beyond treatment.
In the Iranian year 1404, in support of its patients, Omid Hospital waived more than 194 billion tomans in charges for financially disadvantaged patients whose cases were registered with its social work department.
Omid Hospital: A Grade One Hospital in Iran
With the aim of maintaining and improving the quality of healthcare services across the country, the Ministry of Health and Medical Education evaluates and accredits hospitals in Iran once every two years. These assessments are conducted across 19 different domains, based on 110 standards and 550 indicators.
The areas under evaluation include leadership and quality management, disaster and risk management, provision of facilities for service recipients, respect for patient rights, general clinical care, emergency acute care, surgical and anesthesia care, imaging services, laboratory services, human resources management and occupational health, environmental health, health information technology and management, medication management, nursing services management, infection prevention and control, and outpatient services.
Since its inauguration in 2017, Omid Hospital has consistently maintained its Grade One status from the Ministry of Health and Medical Education. This reflects the commitment of the management team of the Omid Charity Association and Omid Specialty and Subspecialty Hospital to providing patients with the best and most comprehensive medical care possible.
Brick by Brick, Built on Compassion
Throughout the construction and equipping of Omid Specialty and Subspecialty Hospital, affiliated with the Omid Charity Association, many generous benefactors stood beside us. From the family of the late Sedigheh Eghbali Afshar, who covered the initial costs of constructing and equipping the radiotherapy and oncology clinic, to the late Dr. Siavash Entezami, who donated his father’s house to Omid, and Engineer Goshadeh Fekr, who, after losing his entire family in the 2010 plane crash, equipped the medical physics unit of the hospital’s oncology and radiotherapy clinic in memory of his daughter. Today, the Omid Charity Association is supported by a community of 60,000 patient advocates.
Today, all of the hospital’s equipment, its various inpatient wards, its signboards, and more are named in honor of benefactors, each of whom stepped into this field of compassion with a clear and heartfelt intention to stand beside patients and played a vital role in shaping this medical center.

Japan Alongside Omid
On the occasion of the Japanese Ambassador’s birthday, the President of Omid Hospital was invited to the Embassy of Japan. During this celebration, the services of the Omid Charity Association for patients were presented to the Japanese Ambassador, and this marked the first steps toward establishing a mammography unit at Omid Hospital.
Supporting people in developing countries is one of Japan’s objectives. After experts from the embassy visited various departments of the Omid Charity Association, they donated one of their country’s products to Omid Hospital to help women with the early detection and prevention of breast cancer: an advanced mammography machine manufactured by Fujifilm of Japan.
This equipment is currently in use in the imaging department of Omid Hospital.
