Omid Hospital Lacks an MRI Machine
For a specialized cancer hospital, this is not a simple shortage; it is a gap between life and death.
Why is an MRI Essential for Cancer Patients?
- MRI is essential for diagnosing tumors in the brain, spine, and soft tissues.
- It enables radiotherapy planning with much greater precision than a CT scan.
- Early detection with MRI directly increases survival rates and treatment success.
- Many common cancers in the region, including brain, breast, and spinal cancers, rely on MRI for diagnosis and treatment.
Without an MRI Machine, Patients Are Forced To:
- Travel to other facilities for imaging—a journey that is often incredibly difficult given their condition.
- Wait for weeks in line at crowded MRI centers.
- Pay the heavy costs of private clinics; an expense many families simply cannot afford.
- Face the risk of delayed diagnosis, where time plays a critical role in treatment outcomes.
Why Can’t the Hospital Fund This Machine Alone?
The Omid Charity Association has been trying to acquire an MRI machine for years, but war, declining support from local donors, and economic pressures have made this goal impossible to achieve alone.
War-Induced Emergency Conditions
The hospital has been forced to allocate a significant portion of its budget to essential needs to stay operational, including:
- Water storage tanks
- Reserves of medical gases for emergencies
- Diesel generators with enough capacity to maintain hospital operations during power outages for up to a week
Economic Crisis
The severe increase in the cost of medical equipment, medicine, and other treatment supplies has drastically raised hospital expenses.
On the other hand, with the deepening economic crisis, public donations and support from local businesses have significantly decreased.
Lack of Alternatives
Existing MRI machines in the province are overwhelmed by the high volume of patients or have been decommissioned.
As a result, patients who cannot travel to Omid Hospital effectively have no suitable alternative for MRI services.

United Nations ECOSOC Consultative Status
Due to its effective services and humanitarian activities at both national and international levels, the Omid Charity Association has successfully received the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Consultative Status for the fifth consecutive year. This status reflects the credibility, transparency, and continuous impact of Omid Charity in supporting cancer patients.
5 Consecutive YearsTransparency and Trust
Omid Charity has earned the trust of its supporters through a commitment to transparency.
Over 3 Decades of Uninterrupted Service
The Omid Charity Association has served this community for over three decades. It has never halted its operations—not during economic crises, nor in times of war. But today, it cannot fund this machine alone.
