At Omid's conference hall, the ceremony followed a carefully planned protocol: cameras positioned, flags arranged and the presenter keeping a steady rhythm. Then the lectern unexpectedly moved from the right side of the stage to the left.
What first appeared to be a disruption came from Dr Samadzadeh's considerate words. Public Relations director Faegh Hosseini recalls the elderly physician calling him over: 'I now rely on a walking stick, and I know seeing this makes my friends and loved ones sad. I wish the lectern were a little closer.'
Respect for a person's feelings required changing the formal plan. Hosseini says that, to honor such thoughtfulness, they would have brought the lectern all the way to his chair if necessary.
And so it moved. In that simple action, rigid protocol gave way to Omid's enduring priority: kindness and respect for the whole person. The lectern moved to honor the dignity of a generous human being.
