Do not fall behind the caravan of kindness. Omid's 27th Golrizan fundraising celebration will be broadcast live on its Instagram page at 21:30 on Thursday, 21 Esfand 1399, Solar Hijri.
At the end of three decades of shared effort, Omid had provided more than 130,000 free chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments. Board chair Dr Javad Khoshabi said support from Iranians at home and abroad enabled more than 100,000 chemotherapy treatments and over 30,000 radiotherapy treatments for patients in need. Because of the coronavirus outbreak, Golrizan would take place online for the first time.
He explained that humanitarian services to patients from neighboring countries, including Iraq, Turkey and Azerbaijan, together with financial transparency and comprehensive support, had helped Omid attain United Nations consultative status. This joined its earlier UNESCO recognition among the association's achievements.
The 100-bed specialist and subspecialist Omid Hospital in Urmia is another major achievement. Its advanced chemotherapy and radiotherapy facilities, including modern linear accelerators, made it Iran's third center offering IMRT treatment.
Khoshabi also noted that more than 20 billion rials had funded the construction of Omid Residence. During six years of operation, the 32-suite center spent over 35 billion rials on accommodation and meals for patients in need and their companions. Other achievements included ISO management certification, recognition as an exemplary hospital-building charity and membership of the National Cancer Network board.
Under the theme 'Kindness beyond the distance', well-known artists will join the live broadcast on Omid's official Instagram page. Supporters can contribute for up to 24 hours after the event. Founded by generous local people in Urmia in 1369, Omid will begin its fourth decade in 1400 with special programs supporting people with cancer.
