The United Nations has designated 5 December as International Volunteer Day. Omid Charity, itself founded through the voluntary commitment of its founders, is among Iran's longstanding community organizations drawing on the contribution of volunteers.
Over the years, youth and women's groups have provided valuable services toward the association's goals. Recent changes in its approach have broadened volunteer participation across many areas. Their daily involvement now meets a substantial part of Omid's staffing needs.
Each year's theme and events reaffirm the role of volunteering in solving global problems and supporting sustainable development. They also invite volunteers to reflect on their distinctive position and responsibilities. Recognizing this central role, Omid's voluntary board has consistently sought to organize and make greater use of volunteer capabilities. Volunteers now participate in many of the association's processes.
We congratulate all Omid volunteers and invite anyone interested in joining to register in person at the offices in Urmia, Tehran, Khoy or Maku. We warmly thank those who help support patients with cancer who need assistance. Through public participation, social responsibility, compassion and stronger cooperation between community organizations, we hope to spread vitality and hope throughout society.
