According to Omid Public Relations, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Urmia University of Medical Sciences and Omid Charity Hospital (affiliated with the West Azerbaijan Charity Association for Supporting Cancer Patients) with the aim of improving education, research, and treatment of cancer patients in the province.
This memorandum has been drafted to fulfill the humanitarian and scientific mission of both institutions, opening a new path for serving needy patients and developing knowledge in the field of cancer by utilizing the university’s educational and specialized capacities and the hospital’s treatment facilities.
Under this collaboration, Urmia University of Medical Sciences has undertaken to introduce faculty members for education and research in the treatment departments of Omid Charity Hospital, enhance the skills of students and residents, and hold joint scientific workshops. Additionally, scientific supervision of treatment processes and exchange of specialized expertise in compliance with the official regulations of the Ministry of Health are among the main provisions of this MOU.
On the other side, Omid Charity Hospital has committed to providing the necessary equipment and infrastructure for education and research, and to facilitating conditions for professors and students to utilize clinical capacities. This center will also be ready to share clinical data and information for research studies in the field of cancer, with the aim of developing scientific activities.
Objectives of the Cooperation Memorandum
According to the official provisions of the memorandum, the objectives of this joint collaboration are:
- Improving the level of education for medical students, assistants, and residents in clinical environments.
- Developing applied research projects and producing knowledge in the field of health and cancer.
- Mutual utilization of specialized capacities for prevention and improvement of the quality of medical services for cancer patients.
- Optimal use of existing educational and research facilities and equipment to improve community health.
- Expanding scientific, educational, and research cooperation in the field of cancer diseases and improving the treatment process.
